Coffee shop with a bookstore, what could be better? Great lattes, delicious baked goods, friendly prompt service, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, great location 10 minute walk to the beach, free street parking, AND an attached bookstore. Try this place. You won't be disappointed.

One of the cutest coffee shops we have been to, by far! Everything about this place is authentic. The coffee & teas are incredible with seasonal specials that are creative & 5 star worthy. The baristas are kind & skilled at their job (especially baristo Morgan--who is our fave). There are several comfy couches to curl up in while you sip your coffee... and nom the yummy Parisian-worthy pastries! On top of all that, the attached bookstore is my favorite part. First of all, bookstores are a dying love of mine...so when I find one, it makes me happy. This one is adorable with all the witty signs & decorations of someone who treasures their local business. This place is a gem. It's a must to visit when you're in the Monterey area! The photos don't do it justice...you just have to go see the place for yourself.

I had recently discovered Bookworks while looking up nearby coffee shops during a trip to the library. Hidden gem doesn’t even begin to describe it! They have the BEST Mexican mocha that I’ve ever had, and their seasonal drinks (very cherry mocha, butter pecan latte) are simply irresistible! They also have all kinds of delicious pastries, and it is a very cozy place to sit down. It does tend to get crowded very quickly, so I usually take my drinks to go, but they have couches and comfortable seats. The adjacent bookstore has all kinds of good books as well as soy candles and stickers. I would absolutely recommend going here for a good cup of coffee!

As soon as I found this place on Google, I knew I had to pay a visit. Love the coffee/bookstore concept! Tried a regular latte and ham and swiss croissant and highly recommend both. Very busy on weekends, so expect a line! There is indoor and outdoor seating and the Monterey Bay coastal trail is just a short walk away for great seaside views.

This is a very popular local coffee shop. There was a line going out the door, but it's worth the wait. The PG community is small and friendly. I noticed several unattended laptops throughout the coffee house area. They also have a great bookstore attached with a nice assortment of books, cards, sand puzzles to choose from. If you just need a coffee you can get out for under 10, but if you like a muffin or snack to go with that you're looking at 10-20.

Very cute neighborhood Cafe and attached bookstore. Service was great coffee was amazing. I had a dirty London fog with oat milk. I bought a great book at the bookstore about local tide pools and got to sit and relax and drink my coffee and read for a bit I always like to support independent bookstores while I’m traveling and this was a great small book. I can easily fit in my luggage to take home with me. Highly recommend this place. They also had a number of pastries available, though I did not sample any of them but they all look delicious.

We came here two separate mornings. The first morning I got a cortado and the second morning I got a hot white chocolate latte. Both were good just slightly milky. My S/O got the fast cup with a darker brew of coffee both mornings. The black coffee is solid and has a smooth finish. Overall the vibe of this place is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The book store was surprisingly big. I loved the local feel of this place and every employee I talked to was so friendly. I definitely think it’s a great spot to check out if you’re ever in the area!

The quintessential neighborhood bookstore! The service was phenomenal from the coffee shop to the bookstore staff they all work together to create an amazing experience. I really felt like I was transported back in time when bookstores were a fun neighborhood hang out where you went to unwind catch up on your reads and socialize with locals. The atmosphere is warm inviting and very creative. There were so many great sections to browse through I got a huge kick out of their banned Book section which I thought was really brilliant. I had an iced coffee which was fresh and delicious. I enjoyed it with a fresh warm quiche which was absolutely flaky just the way I like it with a flavorful quiche filling. They had a wonderful section for children's books as well. All in all a great place to relax after a day of walking on the beach or sightseeing.
